The name by which his family and close friends know him grew up in West Philadelphia. He was born August 12th 1986 and was raised with his older sister Tiffany Banks by his single mother Stephanie Barber. His mother's affinity for the performing arts is what originally influenced and directed him towards becoming an artist himself. He got his first taste of the stage performances at his elementary school show in a 4th grade event lip syncing other artists' music and grew accustomed to having an audience for which to perform. Later on in high school he began to write his own lyrics and would practice his rhymes for his friends or whomever would listen. Eventually his childhood friend Jibril "JL Briggs" Lumpkin brought him to the studio for the first time and allowed him to record music on which he had been working and at that moment Freez truly understood his calling.
By having grown up with no father or any positive male role models left Randall prey to the many trappings of the streets causing him to experience various precarious situations with others in his neighborhood. Eventually after the murder of his only semi -positive role model Jason King (a hustler from his hood who was in a long standing relationship with his sister and was like the big brother Freez never had) during a robbery.
Freez began to try to find a life for himself outside of the streets not only to improve his own life but that of the people around him whom he cares about. Randall Barber is inquisitive, loves writing music about real life experiences, loves intellectual pursuits, appeals to many demographics...all races, genders, young and older as evidenced by his fan base. He also is versatile in his appearance meaning he can go from “urban to corporate”. Take a listen to his music and you will see his wide appeal which is spreading rapidly. He is ASCAP registered and has a strong team behind/alongside him.
